About The Position

The Surgeon's Assistant works under the direct supervision of the surgeon. The Surgical Assistant must be knowledgeable in surgical anatomy and physiology, operative technique related to surgical procedures, and the principles of asepsis and infection control. The role maintains clinical competence in preoperative assessment and intraoperative proficiency as a First Assistant. The Surgical Assistant is responsible for patient preparation and operation during the surgical procedure.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited program in Surgical Assisting or be an International Medical Graduate.
• Three years of previous experience as a Surgical Assistant (SA).
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the patient for the surgical procedure.
• Assist with operation during the surgical procedure as a First Assistant.
• Maintain clinical competence in preoperative assessment and intraoperative practice.
• Apply knowledge of surgical anatomy and physiology, operative technique, asepsis, and infection control.
