About The Position

Oral and Facial Surgery of the Shoals in Sheffield is seeking a skilled and committed part-time Surgical Assistant to help deliver exceptional patient care. Requirements

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience using computers for a variety of tasks.
Detail-oriented, punctual, and focused on patient care.
Consistent professional appearance and attitude.
Motivated to grow and learn.
High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

At least one year of Dental Assistant or Surgery Assistant experience is preferred, but not required.
Certification or an associate degree in an accredited Dental Assisting program is preferred, but not required.
Surgical and anesthesia assisting experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist the surgeon during a variety of surgical procedures.
Prepare the treatment room for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
Take dental X-rays of excellent diagnostic quality.
Review patient health histories to ensure they are recorded accurately and completely.
Serve as an infection control officer, develop infection control protocols, and prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment.
Help patients feel comfortable before, during, and after surgical treatment.
Provide patients with post-operative oral care instructions following surgery or other oral treatment procedures, such as dental implant placement or third-molar extraction.
Record doctor’s notes and vital-sign information during surgical procedures or office consultations.
Perform office management tasks, often using a personal computer.
Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
