About The Position

Dental Specialty Center - Brandon & Lutz is seeking a Surgical Assistant in Brandon and Lutz, Florida, to support the clinical team by providing a high level of patient care and satisfaction in a team-based environment. The role supports the office and professional dental staff with treatment, helping provide excellent dental care and positive patient experiences. Prior dental assisting experience is required for consideration. The position includes clinical support, patient care and education, radiography and diagnostic assistance, infection control and safety compliance, and maintaining accurate patient records. The assistant also helps the dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification and ensuring emergency supplies and contact information are available.

Requirements

Prior dental assisting experience.
Completion of a one-year certified dental assistant program or six months of on-the-job experience with supporting documentation.
X-ray certification.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, CPR, and infection control training as required by law.

Nice To Haves

Nitrous Oxide certification is highly recommended.

Responsibilities

Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures.
Welcome, comfort, and educate patients about oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
Take and develop X-rays, assist with impressions, and maintain study models.
Ensure infection control protocols, maintain patient confidentiality, and follow workplace regulations.
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, including scheduling and patient intake when needed.
Help the dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supplies, and an emergency telephone directory.
