The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Heersink School of Medicine, Department of Surgery is seeking faculty candidates for an Open Rank appointment in the Division of Trauma & Acute Care Surgery. This role is expected to contribute to clinical, research, and teaching needs within the Department. The Division offers a comprehensive multidisciplinary program for severely injured trauma and burn patients, as well as those requiring emergency surgical procedures and surgical critical care. UAB Hospital is the sole Level I Trauma Center verified by the American College of Surgeons in Alabama and a significant treatment center in the southeastern U.S. The Division actively engages in research aimed at advancing trauma, burn, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care. It also houses an ACGME-accredited Surgical Critical Care Fellowship program that admits four fellows annually. UAB fosters an environment that supports health professional education and encourages advanced research to further medical science. UAB is a major public university in Birmingham, Alabama, with a significant economic impact and substantial NIH funding. As of Fall 2022, it employed approximately 26,000 people, with a faculty of 3,176 and nearly 22,000 students.
