About The Position
The Surgery Scheduling Specialist 2 provides planning and service to patients and physicians to facilitate the scheduling and performance of procedures. The role works with the surgical services team and medical insurance department to support accurate scheduling, coding, and prior authorizations. The specialist also schedules related visits, provides patient instructions, and manages department phone calls.
Responsibilities
- Accurately complete procedure cases and documentation according to department protocol.
- Collaborate and communicate respectfully with other members of the surgical services team.
- Review insurance types and collaborate closely with the medical insurance department to ensure accurate coding and prior authorizations.
- Schedule pre-surgery and post-operative visits as needed.
- Maintain attention to detail and proactively ensure accurate procedural schedules.
- Manage incoming and outgoing phone calls while maintaining department service levels and abandonment rates.
- Provide patient instructions verbally and/or in person according to department protocol.
