Surgery Field Engineer Apprentice

GE HealthCare•Denver, CO
•$52,800 - $79,200•Onsite

About The Position

GE HealthCare is hiring a Field Engineer Apprentice for an onsite, customer-facing service role supporting medical imaging equipment in hospitals and clinical settings in Denver and Colorado Springs, Colorado. The apprentice will observe and perform service processes for less complex diagnostic imaging equipment, helping maintain and repair equipment and support customer satisfaction. This one-year apprenticeship is intended to prepare candidates for a long-term field service career. Its schedule is aligned with anticipated availability of an internal position after program completion; completion and conversion depend on performance, business needs, and role availability. The position is primarily based at customer locations rather than GE HealthCare facilities. Customer operations run 24/7, so the apprentice must be flexible to support service needs, potentially including early mornings, evenings, weekends, or adjusted hours. Travel to customer sites may be required. Local candidates are strongly preferred, and relocation beyond 30 miles requires advance manager approval. The role requires an associate or bachelor's degree, military education, a certificate program, being a current student within 12 months of completion, or a high school diploma/GED plus six months of experience servicing electronic, IT, or mechanical equipment. Candidates must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license and be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available. Physical requirements include lifting and carrying up to 35 pounds unassisted and frequent varied movements and extended periods of sitting or standing. Candidates must also complete background checks, post-offer drug testing, and applicable customer access, immunization, and site-specific requirements. For U.S.-based positions, the stated annual pay range is $52,800–$79,200 for Denver. The role may also be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation. GE HealthCare lists medical, dental, and vision coverage; paid time off; a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities; life, disability, and accident insurance; and tuition reimbursement. Relocation assistance is not provided.
