The Surface Mount Technician (SMT) plays a critical role in the electronic assembly process, supporting the setup, operation, and optimization of SMT equipment to ensure efficient production and superior product quality. Requirements
- Proven experience in PCB assembly, particularly within a production or manufacturing environment.
- Strong proficiency in both through-hole and surface mount soldering techniques.
- Familiarity with electronic components, circuit boards, and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) safety procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve soldering and assembly-related issues effectively and efficiently.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for accurate reporting and documentation of work.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, as well as independently when required.
- Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident (green card holder), or a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
- Candidates must also be eligible to obtain any required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
- Applicants must be able to successfully pass a background check as part of the hiring process.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience operating and supporting programming of Mydata surface mount equipment.
- Prior hands-on experience utilizing DEK stencil printers.
- Prior inspection experience.
- IPC-A-610 or J-STD certification.
- Experience applying Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate general knowledge of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) processes and equipment operation within a production environment.
- Operate and support programming of Mydata surface mount equipment; prior experience is a plus.
- Utilize DEK stencil printers effectively; prior hands-on experience is preferred.
- Support reflows oven operations, including profile setup and generation to ensure proper soldering quality.
- Perform quality inspections to verify assembly accuracy and compliance with applicable standards; prior inspection experience is a plus.
- Apply knowledge of IPC-A-610 or J-STD standards; certification is considered a plus.
- Exhibit strong aptitude for both electronic and mechanical assembly practices.
- Interpret and work from structured Bills of Materials (BOMs), assembly drawings, and kit identification processes.
- Demonstrate agility and flexibility in managing multiple projects and shifting production priorities.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.
- Meet tight production deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality and accuracy.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Maintain flexibility with scheduling to support production needs.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles where applicable; experience is a plus.
