About The Position

We are seeking a Surface Machinist for our operations near Brookwood, Alabama. Mining positions may be to work various shifts, rotating schedules, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. As a Surface Machinist, you will perform various tasks related to operating and maintaining machinery to produce precision metal parts and instruments. The Surface Machinist will work closely with supervisors and other team members to maintain a safe work environment while adhering to company policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be a certified Alabama Hoist Operator
• Must pass hydraulic and welding abilities test administered by WMC training center
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers and various gauges to ensure parts meet specifications.
• Maintain good punctuality and attendance.
• Ability to work safely and effectively in a mining environment.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with other team members and supervisors.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Good organizational, time management and multitasking skills.

Responsibilities

• Operating various equipment such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, CNC machines, torches and welders of various types
• Working in confined spaces and heights potentially more than 100’ from the ground (with harness)
• Cleaning, shoveling, and utilizing high pressure hose to maintain a safe work area.
• Will be to operate various hand tools and machinery.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations.
• Preserves a safe and clean work environment by keeping trash picked up and practicing good housekeeping standards in work areas.
• May be required to operate other equipment on a temporary basis.
• Other duties that may be assigned by supervisor.
