About The Position

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Surface Electrician will be responsible for delivering electrical support to surface operations, ensuring the efficient and safe operation of electrical systems and equipment. The Keno Hill mine is located within the Keno Hill Silver District in Canada’s Yukon Territory. Keno Hill is one of the highest-grade silver districts in the world. The mine is owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company, headquartered in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Established in 1891, Hecla has a rich history as a distinguished and respected precious metals producer. Requirements

  • 5 years related experience as a Journeyman Electrician.
  • Interprovincial Journeyman ticket.
  • Ability to develop and foster strong working relationships.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license.
  • Pre-Employment Testing (drug & alcohol, blood lead, and audiogram)
  • Clean Driver's Abstract

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a remote mining or industrial environment an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support surface mine electrical needs, in compliance with Federal and Yukon Electrical Codes & related regulatory / safety requirements.
  • Willingness to support with underground mine electrical needs as required.
  • Ensure Federal / Yukon Electrical Codes and related Regulations remain in compliance.
  • Installation, troubleshooting and repair of low, medium and high voltage circuits.
  • Installation, troubleshooting and repair of A/C motors and variable speed drives.
  • Programming, installation and maintenance of PLC’s and HMI systems.
  • Electrical maintenance as required on all milling and mining equipment.
  • Provide direction, support and guidance to Apprentices as required.
  • Work cooperatively as a member of the Maintenance Team.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
