About The Position

Convergint is currently recruiting for a Journeyperson Electrician to join our team in Fort McMurray at the Firebag site. This will be a rotating shift (14/14) with local accommodations provided for the duration of your shift. As a Journeyperson Electrician, and under minimal supervision, the work will consist of completing daily scheduled and break-in work orders, minor work notifications and minor maintenance of building facilities. The job duties for the Electrician include completing routine maintenance, perform planned inspections, co-ordinate with other Colleagues, and perform work as directed by the Electrical Foreman and site Coordinators.

Requirements

  • Journeyman Electrician ticket
  • Minimum of five years as a Journeyman with industrial/commercial based electrical experience.
  • Understanding of electrical systems, products, service, and design; knowledge of construction industry and familiarity with local and national electrical codes is required.
  • Valid and clean driver’s license.
  • Must be a self-starter and work well with minimal supervision.
  • Travel to and on jobsites is required. Valid driver’s license required.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of all aspects of building operations and maintenance.
  • Strong ability to effectively identify and solve building related problems.
  • Ability to read and understand building floor plans and design drawings.
  • Strong ability to organize, prioritize and complete multiple tasks with minimal direction.
  • Demonstrate flexibility responding to emergencies and rapidly changing needs.
  • Strong understanding of OHS regulations and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
  • Use a variety of tools and equipment such as measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment.
  • Executes all installations in accordance with Provincial, local regulations, general best practices as well as company health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Uses advanced troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems.
  • Advise supervisor on whether continued operation of equipment or working conditions could be hazardous.
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other electrical components.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Complete work orders and minor work request on a daily basis.
  • Respond to maintenance notifications in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Identify problems and provide the service within defined timelines.
  • Provide information to close service request and record comments for future reference.
  • Respond to emergency requirements; must carry a cellular, or two-way radio.
