Requirements

  • Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Insurance, economics, or related field
  • Completion of junior year is preferred
  • Involvement in student activities and/or some work experience
  • General understanding of basic analytical and financial techniques preferred.
  • Verbal and written communication skills necessary to interact with all levels of internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend solutions to work-related problems.
  • Ability to analyze insurance risks to determine the degree of acceptability and pricing.
  • Effective time management skills and competencies preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Captures information from multiple sources, account to company guidelines to support underwriting
  • Review individual risks for acceptability and handles those within authority, based on company guidelines and standards.
  • Completes assigned Underwriting transactions and tasks within established time and service standard.
  • Analysis and review of CPA and company financial statements and schedules.
  • Input of those into the surety system.
  • Determines necessary steps to process work.
  • Decides to accept, reject, or modify based on level of authority
  • Consults with agents and internal partners.
  • Recommends opportunities for business development and service capabilities
  • Enters policies and runs reports for the underwriting file.
  • Works cooperatively and builds strong working relationships with territory, field, claims, sales, and other associates to share and gather information necessary to complete work.
