About The Position

Using a person-centered approach, this role assists consumers with preparing for and seeking successful employment in the community. The supervisor is responsible for working across all vocational and employment programs, providing a wide range of vocational/career planning activities. These activities include job readiness soft skills workshops, career and vocational assessments, skill development and career advancement activities, worksite tours, and job placement and retention supports and coaching. The role also coordinates with local educational and training institutions, businesses, and one-stop centers. The supervisor engages with the Management team on strategic planning initiatives and billing.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Business, Marketing or related field is preferred.
  • Associates degree with two years’ experience in employment and counseling or a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor or Practitioner.
  • Experience in providing services within Welfare to Work.
  • Experience with One-Stop, ACCESS-VR, OMH and OPWDD contracts preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Imparts agency philosophy of “Equal Opportunity, Independence and Realization of Individual Potential” to children, families, program staff and community resources.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information relating to individuals and their families in accordance with agency policy.
  • Supervises program staff, outcomes and monitoring reports, billing and contract benchmarks.
  • Assist direct reports in successful accomplishment of identified key functions and goals by providing needed resources, leadership and coaching.
  • Provides vocational and career counseling and assist consumers in developing an individual goal plan and monitors progress and assist with addressing identified barriers as needed.
  • Provides participants with individual job placement and retention assistance. This could include: resume writing, interviewing, job search tools and strategies, job referrals, job/internship development and retention/job coaching supports.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with local educational and training institutions, employers, businesses, one-stop centers and key community stakeholders.
  • Provides proper documentation of all recorded visits and work done and achieves established productivity standards in conjunction with applicable program contracts, goals and objectives.
  • Works collaboratively within the department and with other internal departments to foster effective working relationships to ensure that participants needs are met.
  • Completes monthly billing reports for delivered services.
  • Review direct reports billing documents and complete monthly billing spreadsheet for submission to Finance Department.
  • Participate in conferences, workshops, department meetings and in-service trainings as needed or recommended to enhance job skills and personal growth and development.
  • Adheres to agency’s policies and procedures as well as department guidelines.
