Support Worker (Canada Summer Jobs) - Coquitlam
About The Position
This is a temporary summer position within the Canada Summer Jobs program, offering an exciting opportunity to work with individuals with various abilities in a progressive non-profit organization. The role involves working within a support team in day program and community settings, assisting adults with physical, developmental, mental health issues, and/or acquired brain injuries. The position requires exemplary communication skills, compassion, energy, and comfort in supporting individuals with diverse disabilities. Temporary summer positions have the potential to become permanent in the fall. The Canada Summer Jobs program duration is 8 weeks between June 1st and August 29, and applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria related to age, citizenship, and legal work entitlement in Canada.
Requirements
- Class (5) BC driver's license or Government-issued ID
- Minimum of one (1) year in university/college
- Criminal Record Clearance
- Negative TB Test
- Food Safe
- First Aid/CPR C
- Experience with Behavior Management
- Experience with Personal Care
- Experience with Medication Administration
- At least 1-2 years of experience with various disabilities
Responsibilities
- Providing direct care, support, and assistance to individuals
- Following individual care plans
- Implementing personal protocols, schedules, and activities
- Accompanying/transporting individuals to appointments and activities in the community
- Completing daily documentation
- Hospitality duties: cleaning, cooking, laundry
- Working as a team player
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive, organized, and welcoming environment
- Leisure recreation activities
