Position Purpose summary: To assist in the operations of collecting and processing donations in the Food Recovery Program, practicing good stewardship of our donated resources. The student will provide service to local agencies, and business’, sort incoming products, and assists in Family Services operations. This a Fixed Term Contract Position. Requirements

  • Completion of high school diploma
  • Up to three (3) months prior experience, including life skills.
  • Heavy lifting: able to lift up to 40 pounds repeatedly with no assistance from others.
  • Valid Full Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Must be able to work cooperately with others.
  • Demonstrate organizational skills, ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written.
  • Good listening, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated and disciplined.
  • Demonstrates ability to work with agencies, peers, staff, and volunteers.
  • Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and repackage recovered food.
  • Pick up and process donated resources by unloading, sorting, placing, and loading donated items.
  • Work with clients in food distribution.
  • Contribute to the safety of staff and clients (e.g., clear fire exits, no obstacles inside/outside the building, cleans spillage and assist in maintaining facility cleanliness).
  • Take responsibility for the accurate completion of all client intake and recording into system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
