About The Position

CSPNJ, a mental health nonprofit agency, is looking for Enhanced Support Worker(s) in Passaic County. Under the direction of the Program Manager, the ESW provides direct support, skill development, and community resource linkages to residents who have a psychiatric, substance use disability and/or within the legal system. Provides services geared toward enabling residents to live independently and work toward realizing their full potential. In this role, the ESW works mainly in the field (70-80%) meeting with residents on their service plans and assessing their needs. The approach is person-centered and collaborative, designed to provide knowledge, skills, and resources to residents to ensure living in the most independent setting available, and address any emergent issues to ensure their selfcare. The role supports residents with the 8 dimensions of wellness, including but not limited to: housing, emotional health, physical health, social, employment, and educational goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a mental health related discipline
  • The ability to write clear, concise, and accurate billable progress notes.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and people skills.
  • Exceptional time management to be able to support the needs of multiple residents.
  • A prominent level of patience and emotional resilience.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure when dealing with challenging situations.
  • Ability to carry out domestic duties.
  • Proven ability to engage and support individuals with mental health diagnoses using empathy, professionalism, and trauma-informed practices.
  • Proficient in MS Office products as well as general computer literacy.
  • MUST have a valid NJ Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
  • Lived Experience: CSPNJ prioritizes hiring people who use their own lived experience dealing with mental health/substance use challenges to inspire and support others.
