About The Position

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Support Service Worker for the Kiley Developmental Center located in Waukegan, Illinois. This role assists in packing fresh, frozen foods and dry goods in food boxes, breaking down bulk food for individual meals according to sanitation and safety standards, and packaging supplements for home delivery. The Support Service Worker also assists in the Food Service operation as required by the Dietary Manager.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of High School supplemented by six (6) months experience in the support service functional area to which assigned.
  • Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
  • Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends and holidays.
  • Requires the ability to lift, load, push or pull up to 80 pounds with assistance.
  • Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
  • Requires ability to complete a food handling training course within 30 days of employment.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in packing fresh, frozen foods and dry goods in food boxes.
  • Loads the truck and travels to deliver to the individuals’ homes.
  • Assists in the breakdown of bulk food for individual meals according to sanitation standards and safety standards of the Illinois Department of Public Health.
  • Assists in the packaging of supplements for home delivery according to the weekly scheduled amounts.
  • Assists in unloading and storing fresh, frozen foods and dry goods from semi-trailers using motorized lifts.
  • Assists in cleaning functions of the entire Food Service Area.
  • Assists in the Food Service operation as required by the Dietary Manager.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
