About The Position

The Support Service Specialist position is one of the initial contact between the 477 Department and the customers (clients, employees and general public). The Support Service Specialist will greet the customers and treat them with respect and dignity and maintain strict confidentiality at all times. The Support Service Specialist will report to the 477 Executive Assistant, but maintain good working relationships with all management staff and employees at the Spokane Site TANF Office and help out where needed. The Support Service Specialist will be required to have excellent attendance and punctuality as it is vital that the 477 Department is represented with excellent customer service and dependability.

Requirements

  • Must have knowledge of basic office practices and procedures.
  • Must have knowledge of the Spokane Tribal TANF Program and of Native American culture and traditions.
  • Ability to practice tact, courtesy and discretion.
  • Ability to convey interest and concern to callers requesting information or assistance with problems related to the various programs.
  • Ability to speak clearly and informatively.
  • Ability to tracking system and maintain supply of support services.
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend changes in support services.
  • Must have knowledge of other community programs providing financial and health services.
  • Must be able to utilize different computer software and networking.
  • Must be able to establish a positive channel of communication among co-workers, Tribal Staff, public and private parties.
  • Must have working knowledge of office equipment such as multi line phone systems, fax machines, copy machines, computers, postage machine, etc.
  • Must have knowledge of the Spokane Tribe’s policy and procedure manual and abide by all policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to maintain positive relationships with coworkers and refrain from gossiping in the workplace.
  • Must be able to effectively evaluate stressful situations and act accordingly.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able report to work for scheduled shifts, on time and ready to work.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be physically present to work a regular, reliable, and predictable work schedule in accordance with business demands, and maintain a consistent and regular attendance record.

  • Must be 21 years of age, or older.
  • Must have a valid Washington State Driver’s License and good driving record.
  • Customer Service experience required.
  • Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality and maintain employee privacy.
  • Ability to relate well to people and work cooperatively with others to effectively coordinate activities to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to exercise sound, independent judgment.

Responsibilities
