About The Position

The Support Associate provides patient transport and positioning assistance to Operating Room (OR) staff; as well as cleaning, stocking, and equipment preparation support.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Current CPR certification required.
Constant (67-100% of workday) use of arms and hands
Frequent (34-66% of workday) standing, walking, and sitting
Occasional (0-33% of workday) bending, stooping, and squatting
Ability to lift 35 lbs.
Ability to push and pull up to 20 lbs.
Auditory and visual skills to include color determination.
Possesses critical thinking and analytical skills.
Ability to multi-task.
Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team.
Capacity to cope with difficult situations.
Ability to tolerate irregular hours including evenings, nights, and weekends.
Potential risk of exposure to radiation and toxic chemicals.
Potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens; must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Responsibilities

Moves equipment into ORs appropriate for procedure.
Assists with pulling items for cases, as necessary.
Stocks cabinets in OR rooms, as necessary.
Restocks scrub sinks with required material (masks, shields, scrub supplies).
Maintains/restocks O2 tanks in each OR, as necessary.
Cleans room between cases, removing trash, biohazards, linens and equipment.
Cleans room at end of OR schedule.
Cleans equipment as required.
Assists with transfer of patient to OR bed, positioning and prep of the patient for procedures.
Elevates limbs as required for certain preps.
Assists in transport of patient through flow continuum.
Runs errands and transports specimens.
Maintains the upkeep of equipment room.
Participates in facility-wide infection control plan and quality improvement process.
Performs other duties as assigned.
