About The Position

Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) mission is to lead the DoD in finance and accounting by ensuring the delivery of efficient, exceptional quality pay and financial information. Telework availability is limited and will only be provided on a rare case-by-case basis during situations where Agency Leadership has determined that telework serves a compelling DoD need.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S Citizen.
  • Registered for Selective Service (males born after 12-31-1959)
  • Suitable for federal employment
  • This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination
  • New employees to the Defense Finance and Accounting Service will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • You must be able to type at least 40 words per minute or more with minimal errors.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-04) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: Performing a range of clerical assignments and resolving associated problems; investigating and reconciling routine and recurring discrepancies relating to actions such as receipt control and inventory adjustments; or applying requisitioning and stock control procedures and regulations.
  • A minimum typing proficiency of 40 WPM is required.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately maintains the accounting and reporting system for all accountable and non-accountable property/equipment.
  • Conducts physical inventories of equipment as required by regulations and maintains all inventory records.
  • Prepares requisitions/orders for all accountable and non-accountable property/equipment.
  • Resolves problems with delivery and lead times in order to meet customers' needs.
  • Manages, accounts for and distributes accountable and non-accountable equipment/property.
  • Prepares and reviews the documentation for equipment/property items being delivered to the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA).
  • Ensures clerical correctness and conformance to regulations in the preparation of all supply and/or property source documents, invoices, and supporting papers.
