About The Position

In this role, the student will support day-to-day Supply Management governance activities. This includes assisting with sourcing-related tasks, supporting contract and documentation processes, helping manage supplier interactions, and contributing to process improvements. The role provides exposure to core Supply Management practices and opportunities to build analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. The Irving Oil Supply Management team is responsible for sourcing goods and services across all areas of operations. Comprising approximately 100 professionals based in Saint John (Home Office and Refinery) and Ireland, the team partners closely with key suppliers to deliver optimal value while proactively managing commercial and operational risks.

Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is an asset
  • Analytical mindset, with experience or interest in data analysis considered an asset
  • Currently enrolled in Business Administration with a strong interest in Supply Management and Logistics
  • Must have completed at least one year of post-secondary education and be returning to school

Responsibilities

  • Support sourcing activities, including conducting market research and basic data analysis
  • Assist with contract reviews and documentation
  • Request and evaluate supplier quotations to support decision-making
  • Create purchase orders and support acknowledgement and expediting activities
  • Help resolve invoice discrepancies and identify opportunities to improve processes
