Requirements

  • Minimum 1-year experience working directly with children, OR related experience in a childcare setting
  • Standard First Aid with CPR Level C
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
  • Up-to-date immunization for TB, Tetanus, and MMR
  • Willingness to work in an on-call capacity with flexible scheduling
  • Availability to work a minimum of 3 days per week, Monday to Friday, within the 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM time frame.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, flexible environment with minimal supervision
  • Flexibility and adaptability to be assigned in multiple locations, with minimal supervision.
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Nice To Haves

  • Related experience in a childcare setting, working with school-age children is preferred but not required
  • Diploma in a field related to childcare such as Early Childhood Education is an advantage
  • A Diploma in Child & Youth Worker, Child and Youth Care, OCT, Education Assistant, Social Worker, or Recreation & Leisure may also be considered.
  • Member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) is preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of the Ministry of Education’s How Does Learning Happen framework is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to assigned childcare centres to support full- and part-time staff
  • Establishing goals, planning, implementing, and evaluating developmentally appropriate activities to support children’s cognitive, physical, social, and emotional growth in line with the How Does Learning Happen framework
  • Maintaining a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children while fostering professional relationships with Hamilton Wentworth District School Board faculty
  • Commitment to Accessibility
