About The Position

The Supplier Quality Technician performs engineering tests and technical functions supporting Supplier Quality Engineering. The role audits manufacturing processes and inspects products to help define and maintain product quality and reliability. Using engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, and defined plans, the technician performs complex engineering testing, First Article Inspection, root-cause investigations, and internal and supplier corrective actions. The position evaluates audit and test data, reports deviations from standards, recommends improvements, and supports factory teams in resolving issues involving purchased parts, materials, and manufacturing.

Requirements

Typically requires an associate degree in electronics, military technical training, or equivalent experience and training.
Typically requires 4 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

Audit processes, test and inspect products, and develop, compile, and evaluate statistical data to define and maintain product quality and reliability.
Use engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, diagrams, written descriptions, layouts, or defined plans to perform engineering testing, checkout, First Article Inspection, root-cause investigations, and internal and supplier corrective actions.
Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confer with management or engineering staff to define quality and reliability standards.
Select manufacturing processes for audit and inspect features such as ESD and handling practices, documentation, training, and process integrity.
Select products for audits at specified production or post-production stages and test dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or cosmetic characteristics.
Record audit data using statistical quality control procedures.
Evaluate data and write reports that validate standards or identify deviations.
Recommend modifications to quality or production standards, programs, or reports to achieve optimum quality within equipment capability.
Prepare graphs or charts of data or enter data into a computer for investigation.
Download quality-system information for use in QA reports.
Review engineering test results and implement process changes to resolve problems.
Provide factory support to identify and resolve issues involving purchased parts, materials, and manufacturing.
