Summer Intern - Supplier Quality
About The Position
As a Supplier Quality Engineering Intern, you will help ensure that suppliers meet Westinghouse quality, technical, and contractual requirements for major mechanical equipment and services supporting nuclear new plant and operating fleet programs. This is a paid hybrid internship with travel of up to 20% during the internship. The position reports to the Manager, Major Mechanical Supplier Quality. The internship provides experience with supplier qualification and oversight, quality assurance and regulatory compliance, product acceptance and quality release management, issue resolution, cross-functional collaboration, and supplier quality data and reporting. The hourly rate is estimated to be $23.00 to $26.30, depending on experience, qualifications, and skills.
Requirements
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, Material Science, Material, Nuclear, or Systems Engineering.
- Completed junior year of college.
Responsibilities
- Learn how Supplier Quality works with suppliers and internal teams to ensure quality requirements are met.
- Review quality requirements in procurement documents and support supplier evaluations, audits, and qualifications.
- Assist with supplier oversight activities, inspections, and maintaining the Qualified Supplier List (QSL).
- Learn key quality standards and regulatory requirements, including ASME NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and ASME Section III.
- Review supplier quality plans, procedures, inspection documents, and procurement changes.
- Support review of Quality Assurance Data Packages (QADPs) and product acceptance documentation.
- Evaluate quality evidence for product release and assist with quality approvals.
- Review corrective actions, deviation notices, and Certificates of Conformance.
- Support supplier nonconformance resolution and Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs).
- Learn root cause analysis, corrective actions, and risk mitigation processes.
- Partner with Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, Operations, and Project teams to resolve supplier quality issues.
- Support supplier development initiatives to improve quality performance.
- Monitor supplier quality metrics and trends.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and status updates for Supply Chain and Quality leadership.
