About The Position

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions, crucial for new semiconductor chips and advanced displays. The equipment we create and service is essential for advancing AI and accelerating the commercialization of next-generation semiconductor chips. This role involves working with New Product Development (NPI) teams to ensure the integrity and clarity of engineering drawing requirements and effective communication with supporting suppliers. You will interact with New Product Introduction teams to ensure suppliers are involved in the development and review of specifications, promoting design for manufacturability. Utilizing project management skills and quality tools, you will investigate alternate manufacturing processes for cost reduction or improved quality and reliability. A key aspect of this role is continuous involvement in the Supplier Selection Process to develop a competitive supply base in quality, value/cost, delivery, and technology. You will also assist with quality problem resolutions and incident management. This is an entry-level professional role, typically involving knowledge of fundamental theories, principles, and concepts, developing competence through structured work assignments and using existing procedures to solve routine problems under guidance.

Requirements

  • This role requires a combination of analytical skills, communication skills, and leadership abilities to navigate the complexities of regional supplier engineering activity, supplier quality activity, to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • Strong communication skills, and ability to cross-function cooperation.

Responsibilities

  • Support supplier development initiatives focused on process optimization, yield improvement, capacity expansion, and manufacturing excellence.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to evaluate and improve chemical, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Analyze supplier performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve quality, productivity, and cost.
  • Participate in supplier capability assessments, process audits, and production readiness reviews.
  • Support qualification and scale-up of new materials, processes, and suppliers.
  • Assist in troubleshooting manufacturing and process-related issues using structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Conduct process capability analysis and identify opportunities for process control improvements.
  • Partner with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Operations teams to ensure robust supplier performance.
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective action implementation for supplier process excursions.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement projects throughout the supply chain.
  • Prepare technical reports and communicate findings to internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Representing the region in the supplier engineering process, communicate effectively support suppliers.
  • Accountable for developing technical contribution.
