About The Position

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in the Command Operations Department and Information Systems Division of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST. The duty location of this position is San Diego, California. Duties You will develop and implement the cybersecurity strategy to meet the mission needs of the Command and provides leadership, knowledge and guidance to execute the strategy to ensure compliance with US Navy requirements. You will be responsible for managing relevant security (e.g. information security) implications within the organization, specific program, and/or other areas of responsibility related to this IT position. You will function as senior-level executive, who will establish and maintain the enterprises vision, strategy, and program to ensure information assets are protected. You will direct staff members identifying, developing, implementing, and maintaining security processes across the organization. You will ensure security improvement actions are evaluated, validated, and implemented as required. You will ensure that cybersecurity inspections, tests, and reviews are coordinated for the network environment in addition to ensuring that cybersecurity requirements are integrated into the continuity planning for that system and/or organization(s). You will advise other IT experts on a variety of situations/issues that involve applying or adapting new theories, concepts, principles, standards, methods, or practices, that are developed by the employee or results from the employee’s leadership.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code (752), proficiency level (Advanced) the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required.
  • May require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.
  • Must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics.
  • Must review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • Resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-13) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • Specialized experience must demonstrate: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, Problem Solving.
  • Specialized experience must also demonstrate: Functioning as a cyber-security expert on computer networking concepts and protocols, network security methodologies, cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Specialized experience must also demonstrate: Developing cyber-security policies, programs, and plans to accomplish IT program initiatives.
  • Specialized experience must also demonstrate: Applying current industry methods for evaluating, implementing and disseminating information technology security assessment for an organization.
  • Specialized experience must also demonstrate: Employing job-related experience and understanding of information security program management and project management principles and techniques to support agency mission and IT program goals and objectives.
  • Specialized experience must also demonstrate: Utilizing cyber-security principles to manage risks related to the use, processing, storage and transmission of information or data.
