About The Position

The incumbent serves as the Supervisory Interdisciplinary General Engineer and Facilities Manager for the U.S. Coast Guard Community Services Command (CSC). The position functions as the command’s principal engineering authority and senior facilities engineering advisor responsible for supervising engineering and facilities planning personnel and directing engineering, construction, renovation, repair, infrastructure modernization, safety oversight, and facilities management activities supporting approximately 65 geographically dispersed facilities located throughout the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. The incumbent provides authoritative technical recommendations and engineering guidance to senior leadership, including the Commanding Officer, Executive Officer, Directors, and Contracting personnel regarding facilities engineering, construction management, infrastructure modernization, operational risk, safety compliance, and facilities management matters.

Requirements

Degree in Professional Engineering accredited by ABET, or equivalent curriculum with advanced calculus and physics/chemistry courses.
OR Combination of Education and Experience: A thorough knowledge of physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and a good understanding of engineering sciences and techniques. This can be demonstrated by: Professional Registration, passing the FE/EIT exam, completion of 60 semester hours of relevant courses, or a related curriculum with at least one year of professional engineering experience.
Progressively responsible professional engineering experience demonstrating the ability to plan, design, manage, and oversee engineering, construction, renovation, facilities infrastructure, or capital improvement projects.
Experience preparing, reviewing, and interpreting engineering plans, specifications, technical analyses, cost estimates, and construction documents.
Experience applying professional engineering principles and judgment to resolve complex technical problems and provide recommendations to leadership.
Experience supporting facilities engineering operations within the U.S. Coast Guard or Department of Defense environment.
Possess or obtain and maintain a Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) Level I certification.
Experience supervising or leading professional, technical, or multidisciplinary personnel, including assigning work, establishing priorities, mentoring employees, evaluating performance, and resolving work-related issues.
Experience managing multiple engineering projects simultaneously while advising leadership on engineering matters affecting organizational operations.
