About The Position

The Value Stream Leader manages the assigned value stream cell to achieve production quality, output, and cost efficiency targets through the effective use of value stream resources. This role ensures production schedules and on-time delivery dates are met. The leader works with the scheduler to perform capacity planning to meet forecast demand and other independent demands as required. They provide regular updates on value stream performance for their cell, develop and manage employee objectives and performance evaluations, and ensure all activities comply with Quality System and ISO requirements.

Requirements

  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience in a position demonstrating strong communication skills.
  • Must be available for overtime and work weekends when necessary.
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and work instructions.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers.
  • Basic understanding of computers and printers.
  • Forklift License

Responsibilities

  • Train and coach department employees towards top performance, including identifying needed training and reaching out to appropriate departments for training.
  • Monitor and measure employee development and growth using a training checklist.
  • Participate in selecting and hiring staff along with HR and other production leaders.
  • Handle employee scheduling, including managing and reporting time off requests and approvals.
  • Effectively communicate with shift leaders on opposite shifts and within different departments about problems, scheduling changes, rush orders, and any nonconforming parts.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Identify needs for production safety supplies and distribute as needed.
  • Plan and staff the production operation for your shift including: workstation assignments/rotations, vacations, breaks, and back-up plans for absent employees.
  • Conduct Start of Shift meetings to relay issues that have arisen in the past shifts to employees.
  • Follow and enforce GRT schedules based on scheduling boards and/or Transformations schedules and complete any missing schedules or discrepancies by following up with the Scheduler.
  • Set clear expectations for acceptable production output and hold staff accountable.
  • Ensure machines are set up and sign off on correct setups.
  • Correct manufacturing process when problems arise. Consult with the Manufacturing Manager, Project Engineer, or Plant Manager if problems persist.
  • Assist the Quality Department in quality checks.
  • Make sure raw materials are properly stored.
  • Make certain all needed materials are available and correct and delivered promptly to operators for production.
  • Ensure operators use proper material handling techniques and are following proper standard operating procedures.
  • Complete necessary paperwork associated with incidents and accidents and alert the Safety Coordinator.
  • Hold staff accountable for all required Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Complete required paperwork timely and accurate.
