About The Position

Provides psychosocial assessments, diagnosis, and treatment, as well as discharge planning to and consultation about patients and families to assist them and the health care team in coping with patient's hospitalization, illness, diagnosis, treatment, and/or life situation, including emotional, mental, and substance abuse disorders. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned personnel using both professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree: Preferred
  • Five years' social work experience in a health care or social service setting: Preferred
  • Two years recent post master's experience in a clinical setting : Preferred
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in state of practice: Preferred
  • Family and Marriage Therapist: Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Participates in recruitment and selection processes for departmental staff.
  • Identified staff training needs and arranges in-service sessions as needed.
  • Trains new Social Worker associates on job duties, assignments, and overtime scheduling.
  • Completes periodic evaluations of personnel supervised.
  • Coaches and counsels staff not meeting performance expectations issuing formal oral and written disciplinary actions.
  • Clinical oversight of conservatorships with all county public guardian offices and county mental health.
  • Conducts/assists in daily legal holds/matters and WRIT capacity hearing in Superior Court including psychiatrist, patient, and necessary staff.
  • Communicates to patient’s right personnel as needed.
  • Clinical treatment team coordination and organization of daily clinical treatment team meetings.
  • Communicates and assist providers including chief of psychiatrist on remote on all daily unit leadership responsibilities and treatment team coordination .
  • Acts as liaison between patients, family, nurse, social workers, physicians, providers, multidisciplinary team, and patient’s healthcare benefactor to optimize outcomes.
  • Serves as consultant to healthcare team on specific and safe discharge planning.
  • Formulates, develops, and implements a comprehensive psychosocial treatment plan utilizing appropriate clinical, social work treatments and interventions.
  • Interventions may include crisis intervention, brief and long-term, individual, marital, family and/or group therapies as well as grief and bereavement work.
  • Assists with screening, identification, diagnosis, management, and treatment of victims of abuse, neglect, domestic violence, rape, etc.
  • Provide training to other health care professionals in same.
  • Documents assessments, plans, interactions, and interventions according to departmental, hospital and/or health system guidelines and standards.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
