The smelter processes copper concentrate primarily from our company’s Arizona copper mines and is the most significant source of sulfuric acid for our North American leaching operations. Requirements

High School diploma or GED, and five (5) years of related operational experience, including supervisory or lead experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in a technical mining-related discipline with at least one (1) summer internship experience (or equivalent) in a mining or industrial environment, including supervisory or lead experience.
Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.
Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.
Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.

Responsibilities

Supervise, coordinate, and control the safe and efficient operation of an assigned work unit.
Assign, supervise, and review the work of staff.
Implement production plans according to approved schedules.
Participate in the full range of daily operational duties, performing the most difficult tasks as needed.
Inspect and evaluate work in progress, identify problem areas, and direct remedial action.
Conduct performance evaluations.
Prepare estimates for staffing, materials, and equipment.
Maintain inventories and approve purchases.
Manage time, materials, and equipment use reports.
Train staff in safety procedures.
Maintain safety data sheets.
Perform other duties as required.
