About The Position

Join Gillette Children’s in this newly created Security Supervisor role and help shape the future of safety and security across our organization. Based primarily at our main campus in St. Paul, this position will also provide onsite support at other Twin Cities-based locations as needed. The Security Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for patients, families, staff, and visitors, while leading by example and supporting the daily operations of the security team. We are seeking a compassionate, professional leader with prior supervisory experience who can respond effectively to security situations while demonstrating empathy and sensitivity to the unique needs of children and families.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience required
  • 2+ years of supervisory/management experience
  • 3+ years experience working in security, law enforcement, and/or military
  • Must be able to wear respiratory protection (N-95 respirator, full face respirator and PAPR), be fit tested and able to pass respirator physical.
  • Basic IAHSS Certification from the International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety within 6 months of hire
  • Completion of Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training within 6 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of de-escalation techniques, use-of-force practices, and arrest laws preferred.
  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Business, Psychology or Sociology preferred.
  • Prior experience in healthcare, pediatric, or customer service environments is highly desirable.
  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP), a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for patients, families, visitors, and staff through proactive patrols, surveillance monitoring, and access control.
  • Respond to security incidents, emergencies, disturbances, and alarms while enforcing hospital safety and security procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting visitors, supporting staff during emergencies, and maintaining a calm, professional presence in high-stress situations.
  • Complete accurate incident documentation and collaborate with law enforcement and emergency responders when necessary.
  • Support child-centered safety practices by demonstrating empathy, patience, and professionalism when interacting with children and families.
