Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Business, Occupational Safety & Health, or related field
  • Minimum eight years experience in electric utility line work
  • Minimum of three years’ experience working in a safety department, safety training department or relevant work experience
  • Expert knowledge of corporate safety practices and procedures
  • Expert knowledge of principles of basic electricity
  • Expert knowledge of first aid
  • Expert knowledge of OSHA requirements
  • Comprehensive knowledge of distribution feeds and circuits and switches
  • Demonstrated proficiency in both underground and overhead line construction, live-line maintenance, climbing poles, and working from a bucket
  • Exhibits a high standard for safety through knowledge and leadership of current safety requirements
  • Excellent oral and written communication and motivation skills
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential information
  • Ability to handle member complaint calls professionally
  • Possess valid Class A Commercial Georgia driver’s license and relevant endorsements
  • Ability to become certified as a trainer of trenching, shoring, flagging, forklift, medic first aid and CPR, and Manual Uniform Traffic Control Devices Instructor
  • Possess an Integrated Transmission System (ITS) Operator’s Certification
  • Possess Certified Utility Safety Professional - CUSP Green Certification
  • Obtain Designated Employee Representative (DER) certification within 1 year of hire date
  • Obtain Certified Loss Control Professional (CLCP) certification within 5 years of hire date
  • Ability to complete Northwest Lineman College apprentice program within 5 years of hire date

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Occupational Safety & Health, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of workers’ compensation and general liability claims

Responsibilities

  • Lead and continuously improve safety and training programs.
  • Develop engaging curriculum, conduct training sessions, and perform safety audits.
  • Mentor, coach, and guide employees through hands-on learning experiences.
  • Partner with operational leaders to strengthen performance and safe work practices.
  • Stay ahead of federal, state, local, and OSHA regulations.
  • Help maintain safety accreditation standards and support company-wide compliance initiatives.
  • Spend time observing work practices in the field, identifying opportunities for improvement, and helping employees stay safe.
  • Lead accident investigations when incidents occur.
  • Coordinate insurance-related communications.
  • Manage liability claims.
  • Ensure proper documentation is completed.
  • Support hiring, coaching, training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Promote a positive, fair, and inclusive work environment.
