Airgas is Hiring for a Safety and Compliance Manager in The North Regions of the US! We are looking for you! Willingness to to Travel up to 70%- Coordinates and guides all accident and incident investigations, Assures compliance with all DOT safety regulations. Performs periodic safety and compliance audits for branches. Under the direction of the Vice-president, Safety, the incumbent will contribute to the overall safety performance of Red-D-Arc by assisting their Region in reaching and surpassing the annual safety goals as set out by the VP, Safety and the President of Red-D-Arc. Maintains a safe working environment by following Airgas/Red-D-Arc’s health and safety guidelines. Oversees the consistent execution of our safety training for new Drivers, including Smith System© training and DOT regulatory training. There is also a clear dedication to train-the-trainer, in order to make the local Branch Managers more empowered and collaborative. Assists in the “onboarding” of new managers and technicians from a safety perspective. Ensures we maintain full DOT and OSHA compliance, through effective training and supportive leadership. Coordinates and guides all accident and incident investigations, with an emphasis on identifying lessons learned. Develops, implements, and manages safety programs and procedures that will reduce the frequency and severity of personal injuries and vehicle accidents. Leads assigned Branches Managers and Associates to foster the development of a safety culture and continuous improvement. Provides environmental, health, and safety expertise to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policy. Performs periodic safety and compliance audits for branches and on occasion at customer sites. Participates in additional audits conducted by Corporate Safety or other 3rd parties. These audits are NOT to be punitive, but to help the Branch implement improvements. Devises, guides, and coordinates training programs or media which will increase proficiency in safety practices and to promote safety consciousness. Compiles and submits accident and other reports required by Airgas, Third-party administrators and regulatory agencies. Participates in the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations. Maintains safety files and records, DOT files and reports, Training files (Airgas U, etc.) and SafeCor Reports (accident and month end) Assures compliance with all DOT safety regulations. Promotes a collective and positive safety attitude by providing leadership by example. Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Greater than 5 years related experience strongly preferred, within an industrial and distribution setting.
  • An equivalent combination of education and industry experience will be considered.
  • Possesses a thorough knowledge of DOT and OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Standards and Safety Regulations: Ensuring personal and associate commitment and compliance with safety standards and guidelines set.
  • Problem Analysis: Gathers and analyzes information and uses it to develop effective solutions to difficult problems or situations.
  • Influencing/Negotiation: Uses persuasion to gain the support and cooperation from stakeholders, directors & above, peers, associates and/or others to achieve a desired course of action consistent with the strategic goals and objectives set for the business.
  • Coaching: Demonstrates how to improve and reinforce performance of others. Providing clear, behaviorally specific performance feedback, and by making or eliciting specific suggestions for improvement in a manner that builds confidence and maintains self-esteem.
  • Project Management: The discipline of planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of a specific project.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Safety preferred, Occupational Health, Environmental Sciences or a related field.
