About The Position

The Crew Supervisor will direct, work hands-on with, supervise and manage maintenance work crews for Chrysalis Enterprises’ (CE) contract with various city, state and county government agencies. The work crews will be assigned to California State Highways/Right of Ways and work in partnership and at the direction of local Caltrans maintenance personnel.

Requirements

  • Have a valid Class C driver’s license and the ability to qualify for Chrysalis Enterprises insurance coverage
  • Ability to pass written and field driver screening and follow detailed instructions, including navigating to specific geographic locations
  • Strong leadership and communication skills and evidence of a strong work history
  • A willingness and desire to mentor the CE worker population and support the CE transitional jobs program
  • Ability to pick up, push, throw or pull up to 50 lbs. and work on his/her feet throughout shift
  • Demonstrated high levels of quality assurance and professionalism
  • Excellent organization, time management, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly and safely.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for extended periods, including full work shifts.
  • Capable of manual handling of equipment, containers, or refuse, including loading/unloading tasks and operating mechanical lifting devices (Code 9403).
  • Must be able to work indoors or outdoors in varying environmental conditions such as heat, cold, rain, humidity, and exposure to dust or fumes.
  • Requires frequent climbing, squatting, and twisting motions, and may involve working at heights or on uneven surfaces (Code 9009).
  • Ability to operate vehicles or machinery as needed, with appropriate safety protocols.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive hand and arm movements, including grasping, fine manipulation, and reaching above shoulder level.
  • Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to safely perform job duties, including use of protective equipment when required.

Responsibilities

  • Train and coach employees on job duties, proper uniform, equipment, and other pertinent areas
  • Act as a mentor to CE transitional employees by coaching and recognizing them on their performance with consistent documentation and evaluations
  • Support the CE transitional employees transition program and assist with the implementation of the program
  • Supervise CE transitional employees on a daily basis to ensure that the scope of work is being executed in a safe, professional and timely manner
  • Communicate with customers, employees, stakeholders, business owners, property owners, residents, pedestrians with tact and diplomacy
  • Relay all client and work-related issues to CE Management when applicable
  • Consult with CE Management to ensure that all labor laws, regulations and company policies are properly followed and enforced
  • Be flexible and willing to cover crews fluidly, as needed
  • Oversee the clock-in and clock-out procedures for CE transitional employees
  • Ensure customer’s needs are met according to the contractual obligations with the highest level of customer service
  • Handle all requests and complaints in an immediate and professional manner. Seek help from CE Management where necessary to correct situations as they arise
  • Submit maintenance tracking reports and vehicle inspection reports at specified intervals to appropriate Chrysalis and Caltrans personnel
  • Maintain in clean and working order vehicle, trailer, equipment, uniforms and portable restroom
  • Check contract supply inventory regularly and make supply requests in a timely manner
  • Attend and participate in monthly meetings, one-on-ones, and other training as assigned
  • Adhere to and promote adherence to all Chrysalis Enterprises policies and procedures
  • Ensure that all safety procedures at the worksite and in the operation of vehicles, equipment, and tools are being met by all crew members daily
  • Ensure that CE transitional employees are provided appropriate PPEs for each shift and maintain PPE inventory
  • Conduct briefings and trainings on job duties, proper equipment use, safety, and other pertinent areas
  • Perform daily quality inspections on vehicles and machines as assigned and report any hazards or deficiencies immediately
  • Perform tailgate safety meetings daily
  • Report vehicle accidents immediately to CE Management and provide written documentation for each accident
  • Report CE transitional employees incidents and injuries immediately to CE Management and provide written documentation for each incident
  • Support the Chrysalis Mission and adhere to the Chrysalis Code of Ethics
  • Other duties as assigned
