This position is responsible for demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served. This includes knowledge of the physical and psychological needs of patients served and the ability to respond appropriately to those needs. In the absence of the Shift Supervisor, the Lead Public Safety Officer coordinates the work of assigned department staff and determines daily work post assignments. They also assist the Shift Supervisor in training and orienting newly hired Security Officers, monitoring their performance, and providing ongoing direction. The role involves determining when an incident requires a written report, preparing various written reports, and assisting the Shift Supervisor in coordinating interviews for investigations. The Lead Public Safety Officer also briefs the oncoming Lead Officer regarding reports and pertinent information and performs the duties of a Public Safety Officer.
