About The Position

The Building Great Neighbourhoods Branch at the City of Edmonton is responsible for renewing and rebuilding local infrastructure to enhance the livability, safety, and longevity of communities. The Branch oversees programs such as Neighbourhood Renewal, Alley Renewal, and park open space improvements, actively engaging residents in the design and construction phases. Reporting to the Director of Neighbourhoods Infrastructure Delivery, the Supervisor, Project Management will manage the overall aspects of roadway reconstruction and rehabilitation, drainage, open space and other projects in relation to Building Great Neighbourhoods in the City of Edmonton. This is a great opportunity to shape the face of Edmonton through involvement in projects ranging from mature neighbourhood reconstruction and rehabilitation to parks and open spaces projects.

Requirements

  • Knowledge or training and/or education in Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a related discipline
  • Leadership experience in construction, municipal design, or a related field, and in a large, complex organization
  • Combinations of education and experience may be considered

Nice To Haves

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or a related certification
  • Master’s degree in a related field

Responsibilities

  • Lead a high-performing team while providing consultative supervision and direction to employees in areas of project management, estimating, cost control, meeting quality standards, contract administration, establishing schedules, and business partner coordination
  • Monitor and manage overall risk to the City's reputation, programs, and projects
  • Ensure robust and proactive partner engagement plans, activities, and processes are implemented, and that the public is well-informed of project impacts
  • Provide overall quality assurance and control activities for the work of the unit, including identifying trends, issues, and gaps, and implementing best practices
  • Ensure the prudent and effective use of financial and human resources, including oversight and stewardship of the unit budget, forecasting, analysis, and resource allocation
  • Liaise with internal and external business partners across the City and externally to build relationships and ensure a fully integrated approach to project management
  • Respond to Councillor and Public inquiries, and participate in partner management and public engagement activities, including acting as a spokesperson on behalf of the City when required
