This role will lead Paint Shop production activities and team members to achieve daily safety, quality, delivery, and productivity targets. The position involves implementing production policies, maintaining a clean work environment, and ensuring paint application processes, equipment utilization, and material flow support consistent production output. The Supervisor will partner with Human Resources on workforce management, maintain clear communication with team members and cross-functional partners, and optimize the use of personnel, materials, and equipment. Building and retaining a high-performing team through feedback, coaching, and development is key. The role requires learning and integrating Scout Motors’ operational principles and culture, overseeing department quality to meet OEM standards, and implementing corrective actions. The Supervisor must quickly identify and resolve production challenges, lead by example in maintaining a safe work environment, and work closely with leadership to implement continuous improvement methodologies like Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma. Utilizing Microsoft Excel and other tools to track production metrics and report on KPIs is also required.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of Supervisory experience, preferably in a Paint Shop
  • 4+ years experience in a Paint Shop, preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, Automotive Technology, Business, or a related field. An equivalent amount of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • In-depth knowledge of all paint shop processes, including pretreatment, e-coat, sanding, manual sealer applications, paint quality inspection, and paint repair.
  • Proficient in managing and optimizing Process KPIs to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Skilled in budget tracking and understanding financial metrics to align with production objectives.
  • Strong commitment to safety standards, fostering a safe work environment and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
  • Proven ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives, applying innovative solutions to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
  • Effective communicator with team members, management, and business partners, ensuring clear and open two-way communication.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and integrity, consistently modeling ethical behavior and accountability in the workplace.
  • Resilient and adaptable, maintaining focus and performance under pressure and changing production demands.
  • Flexible with shift work, including nights, weekends, and overtime, to meet production deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Paint Shop production activities and team members to achieve daily safety, quality, delivery, and productivity targets.
  • Implement production policies and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Ensure paint application processes, equipment utilization, and material flow support consistent production output.
  • Partner with Human Resources to support attendance management, corrective action processes, workforce planning, and employee relations matters.
  • Maintain clear, open communication with hourly team members, supervisors, and cross-functional partners, including Quality, Engineering, and Logistics.
  • Optimize use of personnel, materials, and equipment to achieve maximum productivity and minimal downtime.
  • Build, engage, and retain a high-performing production team through regular feedback, coaching, training, performance management, recognition, and development planning.
  • Learn and integrate Scout Motors’ operational principles and culture into daily operations.
  • Oversee the overall quality in your department, ensuring adherence to OEM standards and customer requirements. Implement corrective actions when necessary to maintain the highest quality standards.
  • Quickly identify and resolve production challenges—including quality defects, equipment disruptions, and staffing issues—to minimize downtime and sustain optimal output levels.
  • Lead by example in maintaining a safe work environment, ensure compliance with applicable safety requirements, and address hazards or violations promptly.
  • Work closely with leadership to implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies to optimize processes and increase efficiency.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel and other tools to track production metrics, report on key performance indicators (KPIs), and provide recommendations for improvements.
