About The Position

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (OTS) is seeking a Supervisor Buyer to support DoD ammunition and defense production programs. This role involves procurement, supplier management, and technical oversight. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating favorable terms, volume discounts, and long-term contracts, as well as preparing and processing requisitions and purchase orders for critical materials, goods, and services. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliant, on-schedule delivery, mitigating supply chain risks, driving supplier performance, and maintaining safety, quality, and contractual compliance. This is a working supervisor role, meaning the individual will spend a portion of their time performing the supervised work. The role requires analyzing information to solve ongoing problems and implementing procedures to complete work, with responsibility for team results and direction provided using extensive knowledge of established precedents and practices. Consistent exercise of discretion and judgment is expected.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree and 3-5 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Power BI, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

  • Supervises daily procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing.
  • Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates pricing, monitors performance, and expedites to respond to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain.
  • Collaborates with other functions to meet current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels.
  • Utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands.
  • Performs auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with any applicable industry or governmental regulations.
  • Leads and manages the work of other employees and has responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination with concurrence from HR & General Managers.
