About The Position

Assist the Manager of Pharmacy Operations in supervising, coordinating, and participating in activities relative to the practice of pharmacy including management of human and financial resources, staff development, and policy development.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS or Pharm D. degree required.
  • Current pharmacist license in the state of IL required.
  • 2 years of Hospital Experience required
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication, organization and human relations skills.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of practice standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Must demonstrate excellent behavioral and leadership skills as documented on performance review or prior experience.
  • Must demonstrate all values of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and coordinates the daily activities of pharmacists and technicians in pharmaceutical care responsibilities.
  • Responsible for day-to-day functionality of pharmacy automation (robotics and other technologies) and for maintaining pharmacy operations during any planned or unplanned downtime.
  • Provides operational support for day-to-day aspects of inventory management (Example – drug shortages, recalls, etc.).
  • Keeps abreast of the latest professional and technical developments affecting pharmacy practice and makes recommendations for change to the department managers as needed.
  • Assists with departmental medication safety initiatives as well as various hospital wide quality improvement projects as needed.
  • Ensures appropriate daily staffing to meet workload demands.
  • Provides and assists in annual appraisals for pharmacists and technicians.
  • Assists in the development of policies and procedures involving direct patient care.
  • Participates in recruiting and selection of staff, as needed.
  • Responds to disaster calls.
  • Evaluates staff compliance with department policy.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory practice standards.
  • Serve as a liaison between pharmacy, nursing and the medical staff.
  • Together with the director of pharmacy and department managers, works towards improvement in employee satisfaction, recruitment and retention of staff.
  • Performs all functions of a practicing pharmacist. This includes dispensing orders for medications, monitoring patient drug therapy, and providing drug information.
  • Provides operational on-call coverage on a rotating basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
