This job competently performs the duties of a staff pharmacist and also functions as a first line supervisor and primary resource person. This job monitors and coordinates daily clinical and distribution operations of the central pharmacy and decentralized pharmacy services, coordinates work-related activities of pharmacy students and pharmacy technicians in the absence of a tech lead, and monitors and reports all necessary quality improvement activities within the department on a daily basis. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy
  • 1 year hospital experience.
  • Experience setting priorities, making critical decisions, and responding quickly to emergency requests
  • Experience operating and maintaining automated pharmacy systems
  • Experience evaluating medical literature.
  • Current Pharmacy license in the state of practice
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Performs all duties of staff pharmacist.
  • Coordinates pharmacy services/operations
  • Supervises, trains and develops department staff
  • Participates in performance improvement and quality assurance activities
  • Maintains systems for controlling, procuring, and distributing controlled substances.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Other related duties as required.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
