The Orangewood Resource Center (ORC) works with young people who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness in Orange County ages 18 - 24. The purpose of the program is for young people to have access to a community drop-in center that provides them with a safe environment to acquire assistance with basic needs, get coaching and support on improving daily living skills, and referral/linkage to additional services within the community. The Supervisor is responsible for program oversight and supervision of staff through the understanding and application of Trauma Informed practice, Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction and relevant assessment tools for data outcomes. This position requires a flexible schedule and is on call to provide staff support, including after-hours and weekends as needed. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, psychology, education, or a related field preferred OR 4+ years of equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in organizations providing direct care coordination/case management to Transitional Age Youth (TAY).
  • Experience with secondary education systems and foster youth preferred.
  • Employee and program supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to assign and monitor work of others.
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects and be detail oriented.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of adolescent and child abuse issues as well as challenges of marginalized communities.
  • Have an understanding of systemic issues which impact TAY such as issues with social services, law enforcement, probation, emergency housing, transitional housing, criminal and civil legal systems.
  • Respond appropriately and with sensitivity to youth in crisis or experiencing mental, physical, emotional or behavioral distress and uses a variety of methods to offer short term, immediate assistance.
  • Ability to work sensitively with traumatized youth using a trauma informed, survivor centered and harm reduction approach.
  • Makes sound and timely decisions under pressure. Recognizes what is most suitable in particular situations. Effectively makes decisions in non-standard situations.
  • Exhibits independence, decisiveness and responsibility.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; data entry experience preferred.
  • Must be comfortable speaking and presenting in public.

  • Position will require use of personal vehicle.
  • Physical requirements include standing, sitting, typing, bending, and lifting up to approximately 25 lbs. (i.e. tables, chairs, food, water, etc.).
  • Possess a valid California driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance. Position requires DMV clearance.
  • Pre-employment screenings include criminal background check, FBI/DOJ fingerprinting, TB test, drug screen, and previous employment verification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight of daily Resource Center operations, including center coverage, safety protocols, and participant flow.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of staff progress notes, assessments, referrals, and data entry within required systems.
  • Review program data and performance metrics regularly to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Incorporate youth voice and feedback into program planning, service delivery, and continuous quality improvement efforts.
  • Hire and retain a team of staff who are knowledgeable of issues affecting young people ages 18-24, including homelessness, employment barriers, vital document acquisition, and accessing other necessary resources.
  • Provide supervision, guidance, coaching, and training to program staff to meet the needs of the youth.
  • Provide crisis intervention, as needed, to support staff and young people and be available after-hours to manage and support staff during any crisis situation.
  • In partnership with the Program Manager, develop relationships and communicate with community partners to maintain and expand referral and resource base.
  • Supervise interns and peer mentors on specified projects.
  • Schedule and facilitate team meetings and weekly individual/group supervisions.
  • Provide feedback and coaching to staff, including goal setting and performance reviews.
  • Engage in community outreach to identify partners who will best support the youth and their goals.
  • Development and continuous updating of program policies and procedures, ensuring all program staff are knowledgeable of processes and expectations and the fidelity of organizational policies across all program sites.
  • Oversee contractual/program requirements, expectations, deliverables, reports, and budgets.
  • Work within established budgets and manage program expenses.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule in order to be available as needed by the Program.
