About The Position

The Team Supervisor for In-Home Support Workers is responsible for providing leadership, oversight, and coordination of a team of In-Home Support Workers. This position ensures high-quality, culturally grounded, and family-centered service delivery to parents, children, and youth who are at risk of or currently involved in child welfare. The Supervisor plays a key role in guiding program implementation and ensuring Family Wellness Plans are delivered respectfully and effectively. This position promotes a strength-based approach that empowers families, enhances parenting capacity, and supports overall family wellness.

Requirements

Diploma in social services or related field and minimum 2-years supervisor work experience in prevention services
Knowledge of Indigenous family systems, culture, community values, and intergenerational impacts of colonization.
Understanding of child welfare legislation, prevention frameworks, and family-centered practice.
Strong communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with First Nation Representatives and service providers.
Working knowledge of community resources and development
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Proficient computer skills.
Excellent management and relationship-building (partnering & networking) skills.
Well organized with ability to multi-task, work well under pressure, and to prioritize workload.
Valid Class “G” Driver’s License with personal and reliable transportation.
Knowledge of First Nation issues, culture, traditions, customs and practices.
Fluency in Anishinabemowin or a willingness to learn.
Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) required (Current 30 days, original or certified copy)
CRC/VSS Rationale: M’Chigeeng First Nation and its agents are in a position of trust in services to band member children and/or vulnerable adults, so a safe and secure working environment is mandatory. Applicants must provide a clear VSS Certificate, and the CRC must have a record clear and/or dated of any convictions relating to alcohol, drugs, assault, violence and theft. The CRC and VSS must be current (30 days) and must be an Original.

Nice To Haves

Degree in Social Work, Indigenous Studies, Child and Youth Work, Social Work, or related field.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in family support, child and youth services, or community-based programming.
3 years of Supervisory or leadership experience required.

Responsibilities

Ensure all M’Chigeeng First Nation protocols and Bylaws are adhered to, and program activities are conducted in accordance with recommendations and policies as set by Chief & Council.
Incorporate and promote Anishnabek cultural values, beliefs and practices and Anishinabemowin into program delivery.
Foster a positive, collaborative, and culturally safe team environment.
Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching, and direction to a team of In-Home Support Workers.
Support staff in managing complex family situations and decision-making.
Provide ongoing professional capacity development and training opportunities to the In-home Support team.
Oversee the delivery of all components of the In-Home Support Services Program, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and policies.
Ensure that staff follow program standards when conducting assessments, developing Family Wellness Plans, and providing In-home support services.
Maintain quality assurance through regular case consultations and file audits, and adherence to privacy and confidentiality standards.
Develop and update program policy and procedures, service implementation tools, and documentation as required.
Monitor caseload distribution to ensure equitable workload and effective service delivery for the team.
Serve as a liaison between In-Home Support Workers, First Nation Representatives, health and social service agencies, and Societies.
Participate in case conferences, interdisciplinary meetings, and community case management conferences with services from the Health and Wellness department and external services when required and needed.
Ensure culturally appropriate approaches are embedded in all aspects of service delivery.
Strengthen partnerships to enhance wraparound supports for families.
Provide oversight and guidance on the development, implementation, and monitoring of Family Wellness Plans.
Review assessments and tailored plans to ensure they meet program objectives and family needs and address the reasons why families are involved in child welfare and children are in care or require family placements.
Support staff in responding to immediate concerns, risk factors, or critical incidents.
Complete case notes and recordings based on approved wellness plans to ensure clear, consistent documentation of family progress, challenges, and service outcomes.
Maintain accurate program-level records, statistics, and reports for the Health and Wellness Department.
Prepare monthly and quarterly summaries on service delivery, trends, and program concerns.
Assist with budget oversight, resource allocation, and identification of program needs.
Ensure compliance with funding requirements, policies, and reporting standards.
Promote the In-Home Support Services Program within the community.
Participate in community events, workshops, and prevention initiatives.
Support the development of new programming, tools, and resources that enhance family wellness.
Advocate for First Nation families to ensure their needs are met.
Ensure the utilization and implementation of the Caseworks case management system for the In-Home Support Services Program.
Practice strict confidentiality, privacy, ethical and non-bias approaches.
Identify appropriate internal and external resources to meet identified needs in the provision of services to children, youth and families.
Provide leadership in an active role to coordinate interdepartmental annual planning activities by assisting in the formulation of annual program goals and objectives for the In-Home Support Services program.
Monitor program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements to the Manager of Family Services.
Serves as a Community Role Model while at work and away from the office.
Assist in the Recruitment & Selection process and orientation of new program staff and conduct annual performance appraisals.
Facilitate regular program staff meetings on a bi-weekly basis.
Ensure confidentiality of required records and documentation for the department.
Ensure compliance is exercised to applicable acts and regulations pertaining to the In-home Support Services program.
Ensure administration procedures for tracking attendance records, all leaves, travel claims are monitored and maintained as necessary and based on policy.
Assist team members with addressing and resolving concerns or conflicts.
In collaboration with the Manager of Family Services seek additional funding for proposal and grant submissions for program needs.
Coordinate interdepartmental annual planning activities for the development of a service delivery process to complement the financial management of program needs.
Review, prepare and identify current and future annual budget requirements for the program and ensure maintenance in the levels of funding for program sustainability.
Manage and monitor annual program budgets in consultation with the Manager of Family Services.
Monitor and ensure compliance with funding agreements and ensure preparation and timely submission of narrative and statistical reports to the Manager of Family Services.
Ensures program statistics and reporting is maintained and quarterly service narrative progress reports are prepared and presented to the Manager of Family Services.
Review financial reports from Finance and ensure spending for the program is in accordance with the approved budgets, identifying a plan to address surplus and deficits.
Maintain program documentation and statistics of activities on a monthly and quarterly basis for reporting and annual evaluations.
