About The Position

This position is responsible for coordinating, overseeing, and evaluating nurses assigned to each building within the district. The Supervisor of Health Services also acts as a liaison between the Office of Public Health and the Director of Student Services. The role involves planning, supervising, evaluating, assigning, coordinating, and reviewing the work of nurses providing care to students, including those on transportation for Out of District Students, clearing students for athletics, and clearing students for school entrance. The position also directs and implements immunization regulations, maintains liaison with staff and public health offices, and manages the Health Services Department budget.

Requirements

  • Ability to work well with people and to direct, supervise, organize and motivate others to get results.
  • Valid Massachusetts license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • Valid Department of Elementary and Secondary Education License as a Supervisor/Director, non-core area, All Levels.
  • Master’s Degree in relevant area.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, supervising, evaluating, assigning, coordinating, and reviewing the work of nurses.
  • Overseeing nursing care for schools and Out of District Students.
  • Reviewing the work of nurses clearing students for athletics and school entrance.
  • Directing and implementing immunization regulations.
  • Maintaining liaison with staff, Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and Equity, and the Office of Public Health.
  • Managing the budget for the Health Services Department, including the purchase of supplies.
  • Participating as an active member in various community health related committees.
  • Assuring that appropriate screenings (vision, hearing, postural, BMI, SBIRT) are administered at prescribed grade levels.
  • Orienting newly appointed nurses to policies and practices of Marlborough Public School relative to school health services.
  • Facilitating meetings with nurses.
  • Participating in appropriate subject area committee for curriculum review.
  • Assisting the principal and/or Director of Student Services in interviewing and selection of candidates.
  • Managing the budget and completing reports for the Comprehensive School Health Services (CSHS Grant).
  • Assuming other duties as assigned.
