About The Position

Serves as the clinic leader for the RSFPP occupational health clinic at the specified clinic. This role is responsible for supervising all nursing service activities for occupational health services. The position coordinates, manages, plans, and executes policies and procedures to provide high-quality occupational health services that meet all internal and external requirements. Key duties include maintaining records, investigating accidents and injuries, preparing appropriate reports for OSHA, and ensuring compliance with all occupational health, safety, and environmental rules and regulations. The Supervisor also serves as the clinic representative on various committees and task forces.

Requirements

  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of South Carolina or holds a current compact/multi-state license as a Registered Nurse in a recognized NCSBN Compact State and is not a permanent resident of SC.
  • Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card.
  • Graduate of an accredited school or college of nursing.
  • A minimum of 5 years of RN work experience, 2 of which must have been in an Occupational Medicine setting.
  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care.
  • Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures to administer patient care.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of professional nursing to provide on-going patient care.
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining records and writing reports.
  • Ability to analyze situations and apply critical thinking.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with all levels of employees, management, executives, and other organizations and to address difficult and controversial issues.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite or similar applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of current occupational and employee health and safety best practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of development and trends in health care practices.
  • Ability to build teamwork and trust for employee health and safety programs.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.
  • Individuals in this position are required to exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment and devices, and learn the policies concerning infection control.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) preferred.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Leadership experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Functions as a working leader in the on-site clinic.
  • Responsible for providing direct patient care and coordinating day-to-day clinic operations.
  • Serves as clinic representative on various committees, task forces, etc.
  • Provides direct supervision of clinical staff to ensure quality of care.
  • Conducts rounding, disciplinary actions when appropriate, and annual and mid-year performance appraisals.
  • Interviews and hires qualified clinical staff.
  • Supports and maintains compliance with the company’s policies and procedures including Drug and Alcohol, ADA and FMLA.
  • Facilitates associate referral and coordinates mandatory referral cases to the company’s Employee Assistance Program.
  • Maintains records, investigates accidents and injuries, prepares appropriate reports for OSHA, and ensures compliance with all occupational health, safety, and environmental rules and regulations.
