Requirements

  • A post-secondary accredited program related to nutrition and food services management
  • A minimum of three years’ supervisory experience
  • Experience in quantity cook chill food production in a long-term care setting
  • Experience supervising in a unionized environment
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Familiarity with the Fixing Long Term Care Homes Act

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) food safety principles are followed.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for the staff of the Production Kitchen.
  • Lead the recruitment, orientation, scheduling, supervision and performance management of Production Kitchen Staff.
  • Ensure preventative maintenance best practices are followed for the Production Kitchen equipment.
  • Liaise with the Registered Dietitian to ensure resident therapeutic needs are met through effective menu planning and food production.
  • Coordinate menu planning activities with the Nutrition Managers of Halton Region’s LTC Homes.
  • Lead efforts in new product development and testing for menu planning purposes.
  • Participate as an active member of the Dietary Functional Group for Halton Region’s LTC Homes.
  • Oversee the utilization of the CBORD software program for food production functions.
  • Lead the process for development and maintenance of policies and standard operating procedures for the Production Kitchen.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement and Risk Management activities.
  • Foster relationships with community, internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in the procurement process for food and non/food vendor contracts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
