About The Position

Lighthouse Care Center of Augusta has been providing psychiatric services to the CSRA for more than 15 years. Located in Augusta, GA our 84-bed facility provides a therapeutic setting for those seeking treatment for mental illness. Lighthouse Care Center offers unique and individualized programming for adolescents and adults that sets us apart from many other treatment facilities, and our tenured leadership team includes seasoned medical staff. The Mental Health Technician (MHT) Supervisor is a key member of the Lighthouse Milieu Management Team who will integrate and coordinate a patient centric therapeutic strategy with a keen focus on patient care; ensuring that delivery of high-quality and cost-effective health care is consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Universal Health Services and in accordance with government regulation, licensing and accreditation requirements. The Mental Health Technician (MHT) Supervisor's primary function is to ensure patient safety through staff education and staff culture development. Patients served include adolescents (ages 12-17) and adults (ages 18-65).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a Psychiatric Inpatient Setting providing training; or any combination of education, training, or experience in a behavioral health setting.
  • Successful completion of CPR and Handle With Care (HWC) training
  • CPR Trainer preferred.
  • Complete the course for certification as Handle with Care/ Verbal De-Escalation Instructor.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates/ Bachelors Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Nursing management with planning and oversight of the MHT patient care role and overall goal of facilitating the provision of continuous and safe patient care, observation, interaction and role modeling to patient.
  • Responsible for primary training, preceptorship, and mentorship of the MHTs throughout the facility.
  • Work with the Director of Clinical Services to develop MHT Group programming and implementation for all populations. MHT Supervisor will be responsible for training and accountability of MHT group compliance.
  • Promotes therapeutic environment for patients by following program schedule, rules, and guidelines with minimal supervision.
  • Follows process for contraband procedures and role models for all MHTs.
  • Actively participates in all Code Debriefs, serving as a subject matter expert and follows up with MHTs requiring additional support/training.
