About The Position

We seek an experienced Supervisor II to oversee core laboratory testing operations in the Hematology department. You will manage workflow from sample processing through results reporting, provide day-to-day guidance to laboratory team members, and ensure compliance with service guarantees, specimen quality requirements, and corporate standards while reporting directly to the Manager of Laboratory Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Biological Sciences, or related field
  • 6-8 years of experience as a Medical Technologist and/or Supervisor
  • Florida Supervisor's License in Hematology
  • Professional laboratory certification (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent)
  • Licensed Technical Supervisor status
  • Strong knowledge of hematology laboratory operations and testing procedures
  • Proficiency with laboratory information systems (LIS) and quality management software
  • Excellent supervisory and team leadership skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality assurance and regulatory compliance
  • Experience with CAP accreditation requirements and best practices
  • Ability to analyze metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall direction, communication, and oversight of departmental tasks and team assignments
  • Monitor workflow from sample processing through results reporting to ensure effective implementation
  • Establish staffing plans and delegate responsibilities to optimize team utilization
  • Ensure adequate coverage during team member absences and provide bench coverage as needed
  • Resolve operational and quality issues related to workload management
  • Ensure team adherence to procedures and quality assurance requirements
  • Participate in and/or lead development of departmental policies and procedures
  • Monitor performance against established targets, goals, and metrics
  • Maintain active involvement in quality improvement programs, incident reporting, CAP surveys, and turnaround time analysis
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, service guarantees, and laboratory outcome standards
  • Collaborate with laboratory leaders on Standard Operating Procedures, training programs, and regulatory compliance
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities for direct reports
  • Collaborate with team members to establish career development goals and professional development plans
  • Manage hiring, promotions, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions with appropriate approvals
  • Facilitate resolution of organizational obstacles
  • Foster a positive work environment aligned with organizational values and employment policies
  • Maintain comprehensive personnel records and conduct competency evaluations and performance reviews
  • Process timecard reviews, time-off approvals, and compensation adjustments per company policy
