Supervises efficient integration and management of the team and operations to properly provide laboratory services. Defines performance standards and manages operations to support consistent outcomes which meet or exceed quality standards. Plans, coordinates, and supervises the activities of personnel engaged in testing and implements new technology. Participates in quality assurance and provides oversight for safety. Responsibilities

  • Manages daily activities and the team to optimize operational processes and meet quality performance standards within the laboratory section.
  • Supervises personnel, selects new employees, assures staff are properly trained and meet competencies, identifies training needs, responsible for performance evaluation
  • Evaluates and maintains quality assurance standards, programs, safety and procedures within the laboratory.
  • Responsible for maintaining all required activities and documents to ensure compliance with both regulatory and accreditation standards applicable to the laboratory.
  • Maintains medical/legal materials/files
  • Plans and sets day-to-day objectives for the team that have a direct effect on the results of the department or area that the job is in.
  • Resolves technical and operational problems within provided guideline.
  • Applies advanced subject matter knowledge within a specific technical area and basic management knowledge to support the team.
  • Leads/supervises a unit within a department or a small department. Typically without budget or hire/fire authority. Role is typically a 'working' supervisor.
  • Invests time, energy, and enthusiasm in developing self/others to help improve performance and gain knowledge in new areas.
  • Maintains regular contact with key colleagues and stakeholders using formal and informal opportunities to expand and strengthen relationships.
  • Recognizes group interactions and modifies one's own communication style to suit different situations and audiences.
