About The Position

The Anatomic Pathology department is seeking a motivated individual to join our team! This role explores human anatomy daily and works closely with Pathology residents and Pathologists to aid in tissue processing in the lab. Responsibilities include handling specimens ranging from small to full limbs, ensuring correct documentation for patients entering and leaving the morgue, and providing basic assistance with post mortem examinations.

Requirements

• Associates degree in laboratory science, medical laboratory technology degree - OR - 60 credit hours obtained from an accredited institution that must include 24 credit hours in Medical Technology or Science Courses which include 6 credit hours of Biology & 6 credit hours of Chemistry.
• Persons must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

• One (1) year experience as a grossing tech or assistant.
• Professional License/Certification (Certified by ASCP or equivalent).
• Experience in a hospital setting.
• EPIC training

Responsibilities

• Assesses and performs intake of specimens
• Dictates gross descriptions of various specimens
• Performs and assists with specimen and frozen section preparation
• Receives and releases bodies in the morgue
• Maintains clean and safe work environment
• Performs preventative maintenance on machines and equipment
• Performs troubleshooting on laboratory equipment
• Perform other duties as needed
