About The Position

This position is responsible for supervising the execution of cost effective and timely maintenance work necessary for the operation of utilities systems and production operations. This includes directing, coordinating and supporting maintenance personnel. Proactively analyzes and forecasts department manpower vs. workload to determine most appropriate staffing levels, work schedules, and outsourcing requirements. Additionally, monitors labor utilization variances to ensure maximum work effectiveness. Work cooperatively with Fluid Utilities Planner. Responsible for establishing priorities for personnel and scheduling all planned and emergent work to individual technicians, ensuring that work is completed as efficiently as possible, maximizing employee productivity. Follows up with completed and in-progress work to ensure that work is completed correctly, professionally, and on-time. Reviews completed work and work patterns by craftsmen to identify non-scheduled work that can be transitioned to proactive work. Additionally, monitors failures to ensure that the root cause analysis program is implemented appropriately and effectively. Works cooperatively with the Facility Refrigeration Engineer and PSM Coordinator in regard to PSM. Directly responsible for ensuring PSM compliance in regard to employee training, refresher training, SOP refresher training, and other tasks executed by refrigeration technicians. Responsible for training personnel to ensure that they can execute required maintenance tasks and to meet regulatory requirements. Responsible for guiding and coaching refrigeration technicians through the skills progression process. Coordinates on a day-to-day basis to ensure that customer needs are met. Here coordination with other maintenance and operation teams, along with external resources will be required. This also includes ensuring that personnel respond to downtime calls, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring that systems are operating reliably. Seeks out and develops opportunities to improve the reliability of plant assets and improve overall plant performance. Proactively and effectively resolves all employee relations, performance, and disciplinary matters, working with the HR department. Furthermore, provides performance appraisals, with a focus on both technical and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

  • Associate of Applied Science (A. A. S.) degree, equivalent technical school, or work experience.
  • 3+ years previous utilities or industrial maintenance experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems and steam power boiler operation and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of process safety management and other regulatory requirements associated with utilities operations.
  • Thorough knowledge of the occupation hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties at WDI.
  • Knowledge and adherence to WDIs good manufacturing practices (GMPs).
  • Knowledge of basic maintenance techniques including but not limited to hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical.
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Proficient in systems such as CMMS, Lawson, Oracle Apps and other facility-specific programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand complex written and oral instructions.
  • Able to manage, diffuse and resolve conflict.
  • Ability to lead and manage change.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and able to solve complex problems.
