About The Position

Supervises and administers the housekeeping program to maintain a clean, safe, sanitary, and orderly hospital environment. Oversees housekeeping staff, establishes operational standards, manages departmental resources, and ensures compliance with hospital policies and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Experience working with the cleaning equipment and chemicals used in hospitals and healthcare centers (5-7 years preferred)
  • Experience in a supervisory role (2-3 years preferred)
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of municipal government administration, operations, and management; methods and techniques of research and report presentation.
  • Knowledge of State and federally mandated laws, guidelines, and regulations regarding solid waste management.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical and numerical information.
  • Ability to observe and solve operational and technical problems.
  • Ability to develop policies and procedures.
  • Ability to understand and interpret complex rules and procedures; research, analyze, and recommend solutions to administrative and other management problems.
  • Ability to analyze budgets, reports, and various proposals.
  • Ability to determine an effective method of research.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.

Responsibilities

  • Establish standards and work procedures for housekeeping staff in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Plan work schedules and assign staff, hours, and work areas to ensure adequate environmental services coverage throughout the hospital.
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate housekeeping personnel to ensure high-quality performance and compliance with established standards.
  • Inspect and assess the physical condition of hospital facilities and recommend repairs, renovations, furnishings, equipment relocation, and space utilization improvements.
  • Identify, report, and follow up on unsafe conditions to promote a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new housekeeping supplies, equipment, and cleaning methods to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Prepare departmental budgets, productivity reports, and other administrative documentation.
  • Maintain inventory levels of housekeeping supplies and equipment, and requisition replacement items as needed.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with infection prevention, regulatory, safety, and environmental standards.
